Ise-Shima is located in the southeastern part of Mie Prefecture and many shrines and temples,
including Ise Jingu, which is said to be the home of the heart in Japanese people, are dotted
around the area, making it a charming one steeped in history and tradition.
Also, the beautiful and rich nature designated as Ise-Shima National Park offers a delicate and
graceful landscape and abundant seafood nurtured by the ria coast has brought many blessings
to people since ancient times.
In May 2016, the Ise-Shima Summit was held in Ise-Shima, which has such wonderful culture
and nature.
So far, ''Niwatori Phoenix'' (2022) starring Arata Iura and Ryo Narita has been 98% filmed in
Ise-Shima, and furthermore, there are ''Yowamushi Pedal'' (2020) which is based on a popular
manga, ''Hansekai'' (2019) starring Goro Inagaki, ''Kiiroi Zou'' (2013) starring Aoi Miyazaki and
Osamu Mukai, and the masterpiece ''The Sound of Waves'', which is a film adaptation of the work
of novelist Yukio Mishima and so on. Filming movies have been done a number of times here.
