Where the Townscape of the Edo Period Reappears
Oharai-machi is the flourishing town in front of the naiku of Ise Jingu. There are many shops along the 800m of beautiful stone pavement in this unique town. The area is filled with restaurants, souvenir shops, and marchant stores that visitors can enjoy after visiting the shrine.
Located in the center of Oharai-machi, Okage-yokocho is a re-creation of the buildings on the road to the Ise Jingu that date back to the Edo Period and the Meiji Period. The area is lined with restaurant and souvenir shops that are distinct to Iseshima. The area also has Japanese drum performances, picture story(kamishibai) shows, and museum a about the Ise pilgrimage called Okageza.
